2015 Black Lives Matter Summit

August 22, 2015 @ 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

The Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter, Planned Parenthood and the Southern University Law Center, will host a Black Lives Matter summit on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 8:00am to 1:00pm at the Southern University Law Center’s AA Lenior Building. The summit will address and discuss issues such as high incarceration rate, black-on-black crime, problematic relationships with law enforcement, disparity in educational opportunities for poverty-stricken areas, funding restraints of Historically Black Colleges and the breakdown of nuclear family. A lite breakfast, as well as lunch will be served.

“There is strength in numbers and we believe in order to make a true impact and address these issues that have plagued our community for years, we must make this a total community effort to provide positive solutions for these concerns,” Karmen R. Davis, Chapter President, explained. With less than a month before the assembly, the organization is asking everyone to bring a friend, family member or colleague to join the efforts in creating an interactive and ultimately life-changing program.

The summit will consist of three panels including the following speakers, Tasha Clark Amar, Lamont Cole, ADA Ron Gathe, Trooper James Jefferson, Dr. Jacqueline Mims, Dr. Kim Hunter Reed, Judge Pam Taylor, Dr. Walter Tillman, Attorney Charles Toney, Judge Lisa Woodruff White, and Dr. Carey Yazeed.

Additionally, CLE credits will be offered to all attorneys that attend. Visit EventBrite to register today.
